I'm sorry but I have to speak out about something. Like it or not I'm allowed to because I went to school and got my degree in nutrition and then passed an exam qualifying me to spout my mouth off to you about all of the lies that are fed to us (no pun intended) so freely on social media.
I am finding more and more people sharing nutrition advice that should NOT be doing so. It really set me off when I saw a post on social media encouraging others to take a pill to burn fat/calories while allowing a binge on whatever junk food suits you (cupcakes were pictured). (I will not name the company because in my opinion any promotion good or bad is still promotion, and to be honest there are a lot of OTC & prescription medications out there that are similar). As a PA I have prescribed some of these medications for people but from those experiences I will no longer because, well, IT DOESN'T WORK.
First of all I enjoy a cupcake once and awhile and there is nothing wrong with sweet treats within portion control. The mind set of "calories in-calories out" for those of you that are trying to lose weight is solid. Our weight reflects 90% of what we put into our bodies, and exercise is for toning and tightening. This post is not to discourage us from enjoying yummy treats now and again but telling people it's OK to consume these "bad" foods in whatever quantity your little heart desires.... It really makes me angry.
#1 People, are you actually believing this?? #2 How confusing for your body!! #3 How was that diarrhea that left you on the toilet all day?
Let's be clear here. There is NOTHING natural and healthy about teaching your body malabsorption. And shame on you and the person who introduced this to you. People who suffer from malabsorption diseases i.e. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiacs disease would do ANYTHING to have your healthy gastrointestinal tract but yet these "quick fix pills" encourage you to abuse it and wreck havoc on what God created so you can savor your addiction to sweets and fats being fed the lie that you won't see the results accumulate on your hips. Well good luck with that. It won't work and now you've royally confused your poor bowels. Why is everyone so avoidant of good healthy nutrition. Everyone wants a quick fix. No one wants to take five minutes to contemplate and realize the fact that if you give your body whole food nutrition IT WILL NOT CRAVE ANYTHING because why? (sorry I'm suffering from toddler why? syndrome) Because it will have everything that it needs. By whole food nutrition I mean fresh fruits and vegetables, natural sources of fiber filled with color! Eat the rainbow, and no I do not mean skittles.
