As a physician assistant I was taught to TREAT and MANAGE disease, which I do. Diseases hurt our family members, friends and acquaintances; but it seems to be just part of life. They lead to missing out on the enjoyment of it all, weakness and ultimately death. Unfortunately, if it is something that can be treated and managed there are typically always side effects to medications. I am so thankful for my knowledge in this area and respect medicine. We have come a long way and are living longer BUT are living sicker. I would prefer to live a long and healthy life, wouldn't you?
As a dietitian I was taught mainly PREVENTION of disease through one's diet. I was taught how important it is to eat healthy foods and exercise. Then I started practicing and realized that the vast majority of individuals desire health, or to lose weight, but do not want to commit to a healthy lifestyle. Or just get so overwhelmed by it all and have no idea where to start, which is sad. All it takes is one simple change.
The combination of being a dietitian and a PA has really served me well. My goal for my friends, family, and acquaintances and whomever else is interested is to share my secrets to PREVENTION. I know that as we get older people will get sick, but one's diet can help so much. That is why I started this blog and now am incorporating recipes but also vent about my mere frustrations as a mama of two babies, three if you count my amazing husband.
Life gives us a lot to juggle but with God we really can balance it all. He loves to create and help us find what we were put here to do and I know this is God's purpose for me. I can't tell you how nice it is to finally find that. If you draw near to him he will draw near to you and guide you. I do not have it all together. I do fight with my husband and get angry easily and use language I sometimes shouldn't and I'm OK with that, but finding my purpose and combining my God-given talents has been such a blessing. Here is my recommendation to anyone trying to achieve better health.
JUICING! It is an amazing way to get all of the GOOD things out of fruits and vegetables, and condense them so that you can get them all into your body in one glass. It offers so many benefits to the body. We know that a key to health is eating a multi-colored "rainbow diet". Want health? Go for the reds, blues, yellows and greens.
For me, personally, I find juicing expensive, time-consuming, and wasteful. Which is really too bad. So my journey to better health left me to evaluating a lot of different supplements and options that the market has as alternatives. I was really quite disappointed to say the least until I got to Juice Plus+. Now let me share that I have a process of evaluation. I put the product through its paces using what I was taught in Life Cycle in my undergraduate dietetics coursework. With Juice Plus+ I got to the first line, "Nutrition Facts", wait what? I read it again, and again. IT DOESN'T say Supplement Facts. That got my attention right away. OK let's review the ingredients which followed a full list of fruits and veggies. Not so fast, what process do these go through, how can they fit all of that into a capsule. Checked it out and was amazed at the time and intensity put into the farm to capsule process, the relationships they have with the farmers and the fact that they remove the sugar and salt to make even more room for all of the phytonutrients and antioxidants. They guarantee that the fruits and veggies are not grown in pesticides. IT IS SAFE FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE IT IS FOOD! YOU CAN NOT GET TOO MUCH OF IT BECAUSE IT IS FOOD. There is so much more but to sum it all up: Juice Plus+ and their products are the BEST and ONLY things out there that comes as close to eating or juicing fresh, vine-ripened, fruits and vegetables. You also might put a lot of fruits and vegetables into your body daily and that is awesome! But we all need 7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, and people that are sick need even more! I, personally, struggle to get 13 servings per day so I know other people are. I also microwave a lot of my veggies which I know destroys a lot of the nutrients unfortunately, but that's the way my toddler will eat the majority of them. But this limits how many of those amazing antioxidants and phytonutrients he is getting in his body. Thank the Lord for his gummies. Juice Plus+ = IT IS FOOD. IT GIVES YOU THE RAINBOW WHICH IN TURN PROMISES HEALTH. IT IS EASY. IT IS NOT A FAD BECAUSE IT IS WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION. LIVE WELL.
